The University of Texas at San Antonio strives to provide all students with opportunities for career-based learning both in and out of the classroom. This broad range of experiential learning opportunities gives Roadrunners an edge when they enter the workforce.

For senior accounting major and Honors College student Peyton Guidry, the UT San Antonio Ambassadors was where he gained valuable leadership experience.

Established in 1988, the Ambassador program consists of a select group of student leaders who serve as hosts at campus events, university-sponsored conferences, and community and alumni functions. Examples include Commencement, the Doctoral Conferral Ceremony, Roadrunner Preview, employer networking events, VIP events and other opportunities where professional student representation is needed.

Supported by the Career-Engaged Learning unit, Ambassadors represent the university at major public events and are given opportunities to build confidence and career readiness competencies in communication, leadership, professionalism, teamwork and other essential skills for workforce success.

Guidry said the Ambassador program provided him the opportunity to take on leadership roles and learn important lessons that will benefit him in the years ahead.

“My experience with the Ambassadors has shown me how to be a leader while building something that lasts, empowering others and leaving a legacy for future students,” Guidry said.

Learn more about Guidry’s experiences in this video, which is part of the “Career Ready Roadrunners” video series, produced by the Division of Academic Affairs.

The series features Roadrunners who are translating their classroom education into practical experiences, showing how their time at UT San Antonio is preparing them for the future.
