TYLER, Texas (February 25, 2026) — Sixth-ranked Lubbock Christian wrapped up a strong 2-1 weekend at a neutral-site trio of matches in Tyler, earning wins over Southern Arkansas and No. 22 Mississippi College before closing with a decisive victory against No. 24 Harding as the Chaparrals now shift their attention to Thursday’s home opener at the Penny Gullo Tennis Center.

LCU (6-3) opened Friday at Tyler Junior College’s Murphy Tennis Center with a 5-2 win over Southern Arkansas, improving to 2-0 all-time against the Muleriders. After dropping the No. 1 doubles match, the Chaparrals rallied for the doubles point as Andres De Los Rios and Pablo Segura secured a 6-3 win at No. 2, followed by Hayden Loffler and Andrea Rossi Principe edging a 7-5 decision at No. 3. In singles, Pablo Segura (No. 18) put LCU in front 2-0 with a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 3, and Kelly Giese (No. 4) quickly followed at No. 1 with a 6-2, 6-0 decision. Mattia Ghedin (No. 26) battled back for a three-set win at No. 4 to clinch the dual, 3-6, 7-5, 6-3. Southern Arkansas claimed points at Nos. 6 and 5 before De Los Rios (No. 17) capped the match with a 2-6, 7-5, 7-6 (7-4) comeback at No. 2.

Saturday’s matchup against No. 22 Mississippi College saw LCU rebound from a sweep in doubles to claim a 4-3 victory, improving to 2-0 all-time against the Choctaws. Mississippi College completed the doubles point with wins at Nos. 2 and 3 before finishing at No. 1. The Chaparrals answered emphatically in singles, beginning with Ghedin’s 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 4. De Los Rios followed with a three-set triumph at No. 3, 6-2, 2-6, 6-3, and Segura added a 7-5, 6-4 decision at No. 2 to level the dual. Giese delivered the clinching point at No. 1 with a 6-4, 6-0 win, while Mississippi College picked up late victories at Nos. 5 and 6 to narrow the final margin.

LCU closed the weekend Sunday at UT Tyler’s Summers Tennis Center with a 6-1 victory over No. 24 Harding, remaining unbeaten in the all-time series (3-0). The Chaparrals swept doubles, with Loffler and Rossi Principe finishing first at No. 3, De Los Rios and Segura adding a 7-6 win at No. 2 and Ghedin and Giese sealing the point in a tiebreak at No. 1. In singles, Segura opened with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 2, and De Los Rios extended the lead with a 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 3. Ghedin followed with another three-set comeback at No. 4 before Giese outlasted Sebastian DeLasSalas in a three-set battle at No. 1 to secure the dual. Harding claimed its lone point at No. 6, and Rossi Principe closed the scoring with a straight-sets win at No. 5.

Giese led the charge throughout the weekend, going 3-0 at No. 1 singles to extend his winning streak to six matches and improve to 19-5 overall, including 8-1 in duals at the top spot. De Los Rios (18-9), Ghedin and Segura each went 3-0 in singles play, underscoring the depth that propelled LCU to its pair of ranked wins. With momentum from Tyler, the Chaparrals return home Thursday for a 10 a.m. doubleheader against Seward County Community College. While Seward County competes at the junior college level, the matches will count toward LCU’s overall record and ITA rankings as the Chaparrals open their home slate at the Penny Gullo Tennis Center.
