For a fourth year in the row, a study from personal financial website WalletHub again ranks Arlington among the country’s most diverse large cities.

The study looked at 13 metrics across five key dimensions: socioeconomic diversity, cultural diversity, economic diversity, household diversity and religious diversity. Wallethub used data collected from the U.S. Census Bureau and U.S. Religion Census to create the rankings for 501 of the largest cities in the country.

Based on these factors, Arlington was ranked No. 3 on the list of most diverse cities — higher than any city in North Texas. Houston was the only other Texas city in WalletHub’s Top 10 list.

“The most diverse cities demonstrate diversity in many dimensions – not just in race and gender but also everything from residents’ languages and birthplaces to their job types and household sizes. These cities blend together a multitude of different perspectives, helping people to better understand the world around them and become more empathetic. This exchange of ideas also tends to increase the economic success of diverse cities,” said WalletHub analyst Chip Lupo.
