EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — El Paso ISD’s Fine Arts mariachi programs recently earned top honors and statewide recognition at the UIL State Mariachi Festival in Seguin, Texas.

The school district says Franklin High School earned its third consecutive superior rating, and Austin High School senior Yannel Gutierrez was named Outstanding Performer.

Austin, Chapin, and Coronado High Schools each received excellent ratings for their performances, the school district said.

Jefferson Silva High School also marked a significant milestone, performing at the state competition for the first time in the program’s history.

“The UIL State Mariachi Festival brings together top-performing programs from across Texas, and El Paso ISD students proudly represented the district with talent, dedication, and cultural pride,” the school district said.
