SAN ANTONIO – A man died following a multi-vehicle crash Thursday that closed part of a major interstate in San Antonio, according to police.

Transguide cameras began showing a traffic backup around 10:20 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 between Camp Bullis Road and Boerne Stage Road.

An SAPD officer at the scene said two trucks collided. While the trucks were attempting to move off I-10, police said a third truck crashed into the first two trucks.

A San Antonio Fire Department spokesperson confirmed the transport of a person to a local hospital after the crash.

The man was pronounced dead at the hospital, according to SAPD.

The officer at the scene said several other passengers in the vehicles were also hospitalized. The exact number of injured passengers and the severity of their injuries are unclear.

SAPD expects the highway to remain closed for at least another hour.

KSAT has reached out to SAPD for more information.
