LUBBOCK, Texas – The ACU softball team lost its first game at the Jeannine McHaney Memorial Classic, falling to host and No. 2 ranked Texas Tech 24-0 on Thursday evening.
Valerie Ornelas provided the Wildcats’ lone hit against Red Raiders’ pitcher NiJaree Canady, the most decorated player in college softball.
Starting pitcher and freshman Alissa Snipes made her collegiate debut, and was followed in the circle by Lindsey Oliver and Leah Meyer.
ACU continues the five-game event at Rocky Johnson Field with back-to-back games on Friday — vs. Detroit Mercy at 9:30 a.m., and vs. North Texas at 12 p.m.
On Saturday, the Wildcats face Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at 9 a.m. and North Texas at 2 p.m.
