HOUSTON – A jury has found a woman guilty of manslaughter in a crash which caused the death of a man on a first date outside a Houston donut shop in 2023.
Kristina Chambers was found guilty on Thursday in the death of Joe McMullin.
McMullin was on a first date with a woman on April 19, 2023, and had just left a Voodoo Donut shop on Westheimer when Chambers lost control of her blue Porsche 911 Carrera while driving at a high rate of speed.
The vehicle jumped a curb and hit McMullin. He died as a result.
Court documents showed Chambers had been drinking before the crash occurred and had a blood alcohol level almost four times the legal limit.
The trial will now move to the punishment phase. Chambers faces a sentence of between two and 20 years in prison.
