A Dallas police officer was arrested early Wednesday morning on a charge of driving while intoxicated, officials said in a statement Thursday.
Lt. Jeremy Carter was arrested by Midlothian police while on administrative leave following a prior arrest in December of 2025. Carter’s December arrest was also on a charge of driving while intoxicated.
Midlothian officers were inside a QuikTrip gas station around 2:03 a.m. when they heard a car alarm coming from outside the building, according to a police statement.
They found a silver Honda in the parking lot with the alarm going off while it was moving.

Officers stopped the vehicle before it could exit the parking lot, and the driver, identified as Carter, stepped out of the car.
After observing signs of intoxication, the officers conducted field sobriety tests and arrested him. Police said there was no one else in the vehicle at the time.
Carter will remain on administrative leave pending the outcome of an internal investigation, officials said.
He has been a member of the department since August 2008 and is assigned to detention services.
