SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is investigating after reports another drone has been shot down.
According to multiple reports, this particular drone belonged to the U.S., and the incident is being called an accident. The Pentagon confirms a laser anti-drone system was used Thursday to shoot down the platform that was owned by Customs and Border Patrol.
The FAA has closed a portion of airspace around Fort Hancock, which is around 50 miles south of El Paso, but no commercial flights are affected.
The closure is tentatively scheduled to run through June 24.
