SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) – While there’s still time for the Mudbugs to make up ground in the North American Hockey League’s South Division standings, each game becomes more and more important.
Entering this weekend’s series, Shreveport sits two slots out of last place.
The team welcomes Corpus Christi to town. However, the visiting Ice Rays left George’s Pond with a 3-2 win in overtime.
With Shreveport down one in the first period, former Ice Ray Grayson Gerhard scored the tying goal at the 7:13 mark.
Down 2-1 in the third period, with just over a minute left, Duke Ehrhard provided late-game heroics, scoring the game-tying goal with 1:06 remaining.
After a scoreless overtime session, the game went to a shootout.
Corpus Chrsti’s Colin Ward saw his puck hit the back of the net to secure the win for the Ice Rays.
Both teams return to George’s Pond, Saturday at 7:11 p.m.
