HENDERSON COUNTY, Texas (KETK) – A man was arrested in Henderson County on Thursday after over 455 files containing images of child pornography were found on his computer.

According to an arrest affidavit, a peace officer who had been assigned to investigate sex crimes and crimes against children in Henderson County received a Cybertip on June. 9, which is used to inform officials about suspected potential online sexual exploitation of children.

The cybertip provided an IP address, along with a subpoena obtained from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, for T-Mobile regarding the IP Address. After officials received the subpoena, they discovered that the IP Address belonged to Nicholas Kent of Gun Barrel City.

On Jul. 23, after confirming Kent’s identity, officials discovered 455 files containing child pornography included in the Cybertip. Additionally, eight files were found containing multiple thumbnails of child pornography.

Officials later spoke with a man who knew Kent, who stated that Kent is a truck driver and is frequently on the road for 2 or 3 months at a time. Kent later called a Henderson County Sheriff’s Office from the phone number on the cybertip and the number that T-Mobile provided in the subpoena.

Following the phone call, Kent went and spoke with the Henderson County official in person on Oct. 13. During the discussion, Kent admitted to watching child pornography on his phone for the past two years using the application MeWe to communicate with others and post child pornography in chats, according to Kent’s arrest affidavit.

Kent also stated that he had been talking with a 14-year-old girl on MeWe two or three months ago. According to officials, Kent did confess that he was sexually talking to the minor and provided his Google emails, which he had been using to communicate.

Following the discussion with Kent, a search warrant for his MeWe account was obtained on Oct.15 that allowed officials to observe inappropriate photos of minors on his account.

After searching his MeWe account, officials conducted another in-person interview with Kent, during which they showed him a young girl’s face, which he identified as the fourteen-year-old he had been talking to.

After identifying the victim, Kent was arrested for possession or promotion of child pornography on Oct. 22 and booked into the Henderson County Jail.
