Texas gas prices drop to $2.61 average, 11 cents less than last year

  • October 24, 2025

WACO, Texas (KWTX) – The statewide gas price average in Texas is $2.61 per gallon for regular unleaded fuel, according to the AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch.

That price is three cents less when compared to this day last week and 11 cents less per gallon compared to this day last year.

Of the major metropolitan areas surveyed in Texas, drivers in El Paso are paying the most on average at $2.91 per gallon while drivers in Laredo and Sherman-Denison are paying the least at $2.49 per gallon.

The national average price for a gallon of regular unleaded is $3.07, which is two cents more than last week and eight cents less per gallon when compared to this day last year.

Lower gas demand and steady supply is continuing to help push pump prices downward nationally and statewide. As long as refinery production is not disrupted, gas prices should continue declining in the fall and winter months, which is the period with the lowest fuel demand.

“Lower crude oil prices, steady production and lower demand are giving drivers relief at the pump,” said Daniel Armbruster, AAA Texas spokesperson.
