Egg salad and mixed greens at Be Home Soon.

We have a lot of fun covering the local restaurant scene. This part, though, isn’t fun at all.
East Dallas’ Be Home Soon, a delightfully quirky and cozy Casa Linda neighborhood spot serving homestyle dishes (and not just Southern homestyle) with a diverse spectrum of influences on an ever-evolving menu, announced via the restaurant’s Instagram page that it’s set to host their final week of service.
From Be Home Soon’s Instagram:
“Well homies, we’ve got good news and bad news…the bad news is this will be the final week of service at Be Home Soon. The good news is we have a million ideas on how to keep bringing y’all home cooking and community, and we fully intend to. We all know what a tough year this has been; everyone is broke and bummed, and we just can’t make ends meet. But regardless, this was a dream realized, and we are so proud of what we made: the meals, the friends, the memories. Thank you all for coming by for dinner. Stay tuned…and we’ll see you soon.”
The team behind the concept consisted of co-owner (and local musician) Madison King, chef Joey Fink, Russ Kirk and Pablo Rivera. Be Home Soon seemed to fly under the radar somewhat, despite its stellar offerings (although not that much under the radar; D Magazine’s dining critic Brian Reinhart visited them in June).
The Observer visited Be Home Soon in January. Some of the dishes that appeared on the menu (which changed weekly) were red curry chicken sandwiches, eggplant katsu steamed buns, focaccia pizza, melon gazpacho soup with crab meat, curry barbecue spare ribs, shrimp and hatch chile grits, and bulgogi chicken banh mi sandwiches. The sides, soups and desserts were as creative (and as good) as you’d find anywhere, and Be Home Soon’s trademark focaccia bread was worth the trip alone. The cocktail scene at Be Home Soon was also a winner.
We keep referring to Be Home Soon in the past tense, but there are still three nights of dinner service left (Thursday – Saturday, 4 to 11 p.m.), so go say goodbye. In the meantime, we can’t wait to see what King and company will be up to next.
