The incident happened in the area of Springdale Road and Alf Avenue on Thursday, Austin police said.

AUSTIN, Texas — Austin police are investigating a shooting that happened Thursday evening in East Austin.

Officers responded to a report of gunfire about 6:05 p.m. near Springdale Road and Alf Avenue, according to the Austin Police Department (APD). 

Witnesses at the scene told KVUE they heard about 10 gunshots in the area. Police said a male victim drove to a local hospital with a gunshot wound and is expected to recover.

Investigators have not released any other information about what led to the shooting at this time.
