ODESSA, Texas (KMID/KPEJ)- From October 18th to October 21st, there were 21 DWI arrests in Ector County only in the span of 3 days, and as of now, October 23, there have been 27 arrests.
“The state of Texas takes DWIs seriously, and the penalties are continuing to increase,” Daniel Sarabia Jr. managing attorney and owner of Sarabia Law Firm said.
Drinking and driving can not only end in a crash, but there are other serious consequences.
“The legal limit to be legally intoxicated is .08. So if you are found to have more than .08 in your blood alcohol system at the point you’re alleged to have been operating the vehicle, then you’re legally intoxicated,” Sarabia said. “However, even without what we call the legal limit, if you’re operating the vehicle and you’ve lost your normal use of your physical or mental faculties, then you are going to be charged for driving while intoxicated even if your blood alcohol level is below .08.”
Law enforcement continues to remind you, if you plan to drink, make sure you have a safe ride home.
