The event is this Saturday, March 7 at Whataburger Field. Run, walk, or join the fun — a family-friendly event!
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Goodwill Industries of South Texas is celebrating 39 years of helping local residents through the power of work with its annual 5K and 2-Mile Walk this Saturday.
The event is open to participants of all ages and aims to raise funds for Goodwill’s free job training and placement services.
Dr. Amanda Garcia from Goodwill Industries of South Texas said, “Many people don’t know that we are a nonprofit. Every time you make a donation and we sell that donation, those funds go directly to our free job training and free job placement services. All the money we collect goes 100% back to these programs.”
The race kicks off at 8 a.m., but participants can arrive earlier to enjoy a vendor village opening at 7 a.m., featuring wellness and health partners, coffee from Tom’s Coffee, snow cones, and other fun activities at Whataburger Field, located at 734 E. Port Ave.
This year, a new costume contest has been added, giving participants a chance to show off creativity while supporting a good cause.
The event includes both a run and a walk, encouraging families, schools, and community groups to participate together. Schools can register for free if students bring donations, and awards will be presented to those bringing the most participants. “It’s a great way to celebrate wellness in our community and uplift those around us,” Dr. Garcia added.
