Let’s be honest, dating anywhere in Central Texas can be rough. But there’s one particular city in the region that, despite being the birthplace of Bumble and named one of the best for singles, has a particularly bad rep.

Austin’s not-so-hot dating scene could reach new lows in an upcoming Netflix reality television show, at least that’s what some locals are saying. Love Is Blind vet Shayne Jensen recently posted a social media video on why he predicts Austin will be the franchise’s worst season yet.

“You guys think Love Is Blind Denver is bad, you guys have no idea what’s coming,” Jensen said in a TikTok. “Wait until they air Love Is Blind Austin.”

In late July, the popular dating show started casting single men and women in Central Texas hoping to find the love of their life on its next Austin season. Known as Netflix’s most-watched reality TV show, Love Is Blind is a social experiment where singles date each other sight unseen to determine if they’re compatible for marriage.

Couples first meet and form emotional connections in “pods,” leading to engagements based on conversation alone. After a romantic trip, they navigate living together and meeting family before deciding at the altar whether to marry or separate.

Jensen knows this process all too well as a season 2 alum of the show, which has gone on to air nine seasons in different U.S. cities and produce spin-offs in countries like Brazil, Japan, U.K., Mexico and more. In Jensen’s recent TikTok, he said that “if there’s a city that could bring down that franchise, it’s Austin.”

He went on to explain his reasoning claiming that the city is full of “swingers,” which are people or couples, who engage in recreational sex with other couples as a form of consensual non-monogamy.”

“Austin, you might as well change to Love Is Blind swingers edition cus that’s what the city is,” Jensen said. “Everyone shares everyone here. This might be the first time couples might change their partners at the altar. That’s how bad it is here.”

Jensen continued on saying he’s convinced that the show in Austin is “going to be the most diabolical season you’ll ever see.” He then advised Texans to rethink signing up for Love Is Blind Austin if you’re interested since he strongly believes “a lot of your late nights and fun stuff” will be exposed.

“And it won’t be good, it will destroy any kind of love you think is possibly out there,” he added.

But Jensen isn’t the only one who thinks this is true, which some believe could make for an entertaining next LIB season. Austinites in his comment section agreed with him like @kelss_lorrain3 who wrote, “As an Austin native this is absolutely true. Everyone 100% knows everyone,” and @pursuitofcozy echoed saying “As someone who has been living in Austin for may years now…this season is going to be a dumpster fire.”

Another TikToker @Norellco said, “Noooooo Austin’s a mess I can’t wait,” and @Paytonterz said, “Love is Delusional Austin.”

According to a former casting producer’s TikTok video, Love Is Blind is still actively casting for singles ready for marriage in the Austin and San Antonio areas. Would you take the leap to find out if love is truly blind?
