Mobilize. Organize. Vote. Empower. That is the motto of the MOVE Texas Action Fund.

Founded in 2013, MOVE Texas is “dedicated to building the political power of young people in underrepresented communities through civic engagement, leadership development and issue advocacy,” according to the organization’s website.

Today, MOVE Texas operates in major cities and college campuses, including Fort Worth, Dallas, Austin, Houston, Denton and others to inform young Texans about voting.

According to MOVE Texas, over the past decade, the organization has registered more than 150,000 young voters and increased voter registration by 19% among 18- to 25-year-olds.

With the Texas primary elections on Tuesday, March 3, the MOVE Texas chapter at TCU has been tabling around campus, encouraging students to register to vote and informing them about the importance of voting.

“The TCU chapter of MOVE Texas encourages voter registration, mobilization and advocacy surrounding the issues students care about the most,” according to the MOVE TCU Engage page

On Wednesday, Feb. 25, MOVE TCU attended the LeadNOW opportunity fair to inform first-year students about the organization’s mission and how to vote in the Texas primaries.

Along with voter registration and information, MOVE Texas also focuses on issue advocacy, education, political empowerment and civil engagement.

Students interested in joining the MOVE Texas TCU chapter can join the organization’s Group Me to receive more information and updates on events.

TCU students and faculty can vote in the Texas primaries by mail or in person, with the Tarrant County website providing a map of voting locations with current wait times.
