City of Plano identifies 15-year-old boy killed in crash on Independence Parkway

The Plano Police Department says a 15-year-old boy has died after a car crash on Independence Parkway.

Officers and Plano Fire-Rescue personnel were called to the crash at about noon Monday in the 600 block of Independence Parkway, the city said.

Officials say a Chevrolet Volt was heading south when they lost control and crossed the median, colliding into a Lincoln Navigator carrying the victim and three others.

The victim, Carter Hiese of Murphy, was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said. The three other occupants were taken to a local hospital. The extent of their injuries aren’t known at this time.

The driver of the Volt was not taken in for any injuries, officials said.

Plano Police’s Traffic Unit will investigate, but they believe speed was a factor in this wreck.
