Cheryl Bean, a business owner, is leading in the Republican primary for the Texas House in District 94 after early voting, according to unofficial results.

Bean has 58% of the vote, with Jackie Schlegel, director of Texans for Medical Freedom at 23% and Susan Valliant at 9.4%.

In the Democratic primary, Katie O’Brein Duzan, vice president of marketing at Veeva Systems and TCU alumna, is running uncontested. She will face the winner of the Republican primary during the general election in November.

Texas House race in District 94, which includes Hurst and parts of east Arlington.

Republican nominees must secure at least 50% of the primary vote to win the nomination and advance to November’s general election. If no candidate reaches that threshold, a runoff election will be triggered between the top two vote getters in May.

Since 2015, the Texas state House District 94 seat has been held by Republican Rep. Tony Tinderholt. He is not seeking reelection after announcing his plan to run for Tarrant County commissioner.
