LUBBOCK, Texas – The Big 12 released its weekly awards today which featured Texas Tech’s Kaitlyn Terry and NiJaree Canady winning player and pitcher of the week, respectively.
Terry and Canady had video game-like numbers in Tech’s home opening weekend. Terry led the team batting as she slashed .769/1.462/.850 with 10 hits, nine RBI, 19 total bases while also going 3-0 in the circle with a 1.31 ERA and tossing her second no-hitter this season.
Canady was dominant in the circle, allowing just one hit through 10.0 innings of work. She threw the second no-hitter of her Texas Tech career against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and recorded a season-high 13 strikeouts in the process. Canady went 2-0 in the circle and also found her swing, going 2-for-5 at the plate with a single and a double.
