HOUSTON – Texans headed to the polls on Tuesday to decide the candidates for November’s midterm election.

10:57 p.m.

Final results are in from Galveston County and the race for County Judge will be between incumbent Republican Mark Henry and Democratic nominee Albert Al Smith. 

10:49 p.m.

The Associated Press is reporting Jessica Steinmann has won the Republican Nomination for U.S. House in Texas’ 8th Congressional District. 

She will face Laura Jones in November. 

10:28 p.m.

The Associated Press is reporting Laura Jones has won the Democratic Nomination in Texas’ 8th Congressional District. 

A call has not yet been made in the Republican primary.

10:25 p.m.

The Associated Press is reporting Rhonda Hart has won the Democratic Nomination in Texas’ 36th Congressional District. 

She will face incumbent Brian Babin in November. 

10:23 p.m.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton addressed his supporters just after 10 p.m. Tuesday night after a runoff election was announced by the Associated Press.

Sen. John Cornyn addressed his supporters prior to the AP projection that he will be facing Ken Paxton in a runoff election in May.

Jasmine Crockett addressed supporters within the last hour regarding election results. She said she believed the results will not come until Wednesday morning.

The Associated Press is reporting that Ken Paxton and John Cornyn will be heading to a runoff election for U.S. Senate. 

The runoff election will take place on May 26, 2026. 

9:27 p.m. 

The Associated Press is reporting Gina Hinojosa has won the Democratic nomination for Governor of Texas.

She will face Greg Abbott in November.  

8:54 p.m.

The Associated Press is reporting that Michael Cloud has won the Republican nomination for U.S. House in Texas’ 27th Congressional District.

The Associated Press is reporting that Brian Babin has won the Republican nomination for U.S. House in Texas’ 36th Congressional District.

The Associated Press is reporting that Randy Weber has won the Republican nomination for U.S. House in Texas’ 14th Congressional District. 

A call has not yet been made in the Democratic primary.

The Associated Press is reporting that Greg Abbott has won the Republican nomination for Governor of Texas.

FOX 26 spoke with Orlando Sanchez, candidate for Harris County Judge on the Republican Ticket, following the release of early voting numbers.

The Associated Press is reporting that Trever Nehls, the identical twin brother of Troy Nehls, has won the Republican nomination for U.S. House in Texas’ 22nd Congressional District. 

It’s unclear who Nehls will face in November as results for the Democratic race for Texas’ 22nd Congressional District are still be counted. 

7 p.m.

Polls across much of the State of Texas are now closed for the March primary. 

If you are still in line, you will be allowed to cast your ballot for the primary.

6 p.m.

FOX 26 has learned via our FOX station in Dallas, FOX 4, that Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins has extended voting hours in Dallas County until 9 p.m. 

The announcement comes after some say voters in parts of Texas were being turned away from the polls. 

Again, this is for Democratic voters in Dallas County only. 

Ballots cast after 7 p.m. for those voters will be counted as provisional.

A man with ammunition in his vehicle was outside the hotel where Ken Paxton’s election watch party will be taking place on Tuesday evening.

The Harris County Elections Department reported as of 10 a.m., more than 35,300 people had cast ballots in person on Election Day for the March 3, 2026, primary.

The polls are now open for people to cast their vote for which Democratic or Republican candidates they want on the November general election ballot.

Weather for the election day is expected to be sunny with some clouds. Highs should reach the mid-80s in the afternoon.

In order to vote in person, Texas voters will be asked to present an acceptable form of photo ID. Here is a list of the acceptable forms of photo ID:
