Brittany Black won the race to be the Democratic candidate for the District 61 race with 8,764 votes, or 56.08% of votes cast, according to unofficial vote totals. She ran against Jackie Bescherer, who had 6,863 votes, or 43.92% of votes cast.

Black will appear again on the November ballot against the winner of the Republican primary, which features incumbent Keresa Richardson and candidate Frederick Frazier.

The winner will appear again on the November ballot against the winner of the Republican primary, which features incumbent Keresa Richardson and candidate Frederick Frazier.

The context

Nearly 10% Collin County’s 752,502 registered voters cast a ballot in the primary election during early voting, according to the Texas Secretary of State’s website.

Early voting for the 2026 primary election started Feb. 17 and ended Feb. 27 across the state, and unofficial results show 72,657 ballots were cast in-person or by mail, totaling about 9.66% of registered Collin County voters, ahead of the March 3 primary elections.
