District 19 Republican primary headed to runoff

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Tom Sell is headed to a runoff in the Texas 19th Congressional District Republican primary. His opponent is yet to be determined.

As of late Tuesday night, Matt Smith held a lead of a few hundred votes over Abraham Enriquez.

LATEST ELECTION RESULTS AS THEY COME IN

Sell drew roughly 40 percent of the vote, Smith and Enriquez each around 18 percent.

We spoke with the two leading candidates as of news time, Sell and Smith.

The runoff election will be May 26. Rep. Jodey Arrington announced in November he would not seek another term. The winner of the Republican primary will face Kyle Rable in November. Rable ran unopposed in the Democratic primary.
