LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Lubbock Mayor Mark McBrayer announced Wednesday he is seeking another term in office, making the announcement after delivering his State of the City address.
McBrayer, who took office in 2024, said he wants a second term to focus on developing Downtown Lubbock. He listed safety, affordability, and energy as his key priorities.
“When people start looking around Texas and other places, they’re looking at Fort Worth, Dallas, Austin, they’re going to start paying attention to Lubbock,” McBrayer said. “When they do, I want to be prepared for that growth, and do what we need to do as a city to be a welcoming place for them.”
McBrayer faces three challengers in the race: Peggy Bohmfalk, Stephen Sanders, and G. Todd Winans. The mayoral race will appear on municipal and school board ballots.
