LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – The daughter of the late Robin Roberts accepted the 2026 Kal Segrist Lifetime Achievement Award on behalf of her father on Wednesday, March 4, at PlainsCapital Park at Lowrey Field.
The Kal Segrist Award, named after the late Texas Tech University head baseball coach, recognizes individuals who have dedicated years of service to the advancement of youth baseball in Lubbock. Past recipients include Dr. Bill Dean, Bobby Moegle, John Dudley, Mike Gustafson, Rip and Mark Griffin, 2023 recipient Curtis Alexander, and 2024 recipient Doyle Sooter. 2026 is the 28th year of the award’s presentation.
Robin Roberts was involved in Little League Baseball for more than 35 years and served as the longtime district 2 coordinator for Little League Baseball in and around Lubbock. He was instrumental in bringing Challenger League, a baseball program for disabled children, to Lubbock.
Robin Lee Roberts died in July 2012 at the age of 58.
