EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Locals will once again have the opportunity to explore local trails this spring as Live Active El Paso launches its 2026 Hike-A-Thon series.
The series is an initiative of the City’s Parks and Recreation Department, designed to encourage physical activity while showcasing natural spaces throughout the area. The series features five guided hikes at trailheads across the city, with routes ranging from beginner-friendly paths to moderately challenging terrain.
“Our outdoor hike series shows how we can motivate our community to stay active while exploring the natural beauty of our local trails,” said Parks and Recreation Director Pablo Caballero in a release to KTSM. “It’s a great opportunity to get your steps in, enjoy the outdoors, connect with fellow residents, and make healthy living part of your routine.”
All hikes begin at 7:30 a.m. The schedule includes:
March 7: Resler Canyon Loop, Cadiz Street
March 21: Goon’s Loop, Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard
April 4: Lazy Cow Trailhead, Officer Andrew Barcena Drive
April 18: Knapp Land Nature Preserve
May 2: Coyote Ugly & Boulder Dash trails, Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard
Participants who complete at least four of the five hikes will receive a prize. Organizers are encouraging attendees to wear sturdy footwear, dress appropriately for changing weather conditions, use sun protection, and bring sufficient water.
According to organizers, since its launch in 2022, the Hike-A-Thon series has drawn thousands of residents to trailheads in the region.
Residents interested in participating can register online and obtain a Hiking Passport through the event’s official registration form. Additional details about programming and other free fitness opportunities are available through Live Active El Paso online.
