The City of Austin is extending its in-person Victim Assistance Center through Thursday to serve those impacted by Sunday morning’s mass shooting on West Sixth Street.

The city announced the extension in a Wednesday afternoon press release. Hours of operation will be 10 a.m.-8 p.m and the location is 1520 Rutherford Lane, Building 4.

The city opened the Victim Assistance Center on Tuesday to provide mental health support services, crisis counseling, as well as information on available resources to those who were present at Sunday’s shooting.

According to the press release, the VAC will close after Thursday’s services. “But that does not mean services are ending,” the release states. “Incidents like this can have impacts that last long beyond the initial event.”

Therefore, the FBI San Antonio Division has compiled a list of all services and resources available to victims in a Virtual Family Assistance Center. Those services and resources can be found online here.

“Austin Emergency Management, Austin Police Victim Services, and FBI Victim Services would like to thank all the local municipal, county, state, federal, and nonprofit organizations who contributed to the services provided at the VAC,” the press release states.

If anyone you know was impacted—injured or not—by these events and needs access to mental health services or resources, encourage them to visit the VAC or the FBI’s Virtual Family Assistance Center.

Struggling individuals can also call the APD Victim Services Hotline at 512-974-5037. Students at the University of Texas at Austin can call the Counseling and Mental Health Center Crisis Line at 512-471-2255 to begin the process.
