After rain and thunderstorms hit much of Dallas-Fort Worth overnight, eastbound U.S. 80 is blocked off and flooded, causing potential delays near the Kaufman County line.

According to the Texas Department of Transportation’s traffic map, eastbound traffic on U.S. 80 at Lawson Road is being diverted to the frontage road.

At least one car has become stranded in several inches of pooled water, visible in traffic cameras along the highway. An excavator could also be seen attempting to help remove the car from the water at around 7:30 a.m. No ambulance or fire units appear to be responding.

Due to the closure, traffic is backed up into Mesquite at Collins Road.
