MONROE, La. – The ULM baseball team (8-7) takes on a road three-game weekend series with UT Arlington from Friday, Mar. 6, through Sunday, Mar. 8, in Arlington, Texas. The Warhawks are looking to bounce back after a midweek sweep at the hands of Southeastern Louisiana in the past two games.

SERIES HISTORY VS. UT ARLINGTON –
The Warhawks and Mavericks have faced off 95 times in both programs’ history, with the latter owning the all-time record 55-40. The two teams played in a three-game series last season at Lou St. Amant Field, where ULM took two out of three games to win the series. The Warhawks were last victorious in Arlington in the 2022 season.

SCOUTING THE MAVERICKS –
UT Arlington currently holds a 3-9 record and enters the weekend having lost three straight games. It shares a single common opponent in Northwestern State, which resulted in a sweep against UTA. Leading the team in hitting is Zach Mazoch with a .340 batting average, and also leads in RBI with seven on the year. Preston Knott has also contributed with a team leading four doubles and nine runs scored while also stealing two bags. Caylon Dygert leads the pitching staff with a 0.96 ERA in 18.2 innings pitched, striking out 18 batters while allowing nine walks.

LAST TIME OUT –
The Warhawks were swept in the two-game series against Southeastern on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. In game one, the score was 7-5 in favor of SLU going into the top of the eighth inning before an eight-run surge from the Lions produced a run-rule result. The second game produced the same margin as Southeastern scored 13 runs within the first six innings to pull away. Dayne Wray continued his hot start to the season, hitting a two-run homer in game two to make his 2026 mark at five home runs. Jackson Landry produced a bases clearing double in the same game to put three runs on the board.

HOT STARTS –
The Warhawks host a pair of hitters who have made their mark in the first season at ULM. Davis Mauzy has produced a hit in all 15 games to start the season, having multi-hit games in six of them. He also recorded his first home run of the season, a three-run blast that represented his first of the season. Mauzy is batting .400, has a 1.071 OPS and is tied for the team leader in hits with 22. Wray has also been a hot bat for ULM in 2026, recording a hit in all but the first game of the season. His five home runs lead the team as he possesses a mind-blowing .830 slugging percentage. Wray is also batting .426 and is second in RBI with 16 in the year.

FRESHMEN FOR THE FENCES –
ULM freshmen have been able to record home runs and swing for the fences across the opening 15 games. Freshman Sutton Lewis hit two three-run homers throughout opening weekend against Central Arkansas, becoming the only freshman with multiple home runs in opening weekend in the Sun Belt. Wray then followed that up with three home runs in the series against Western Illinois, launching one in each of the three games. The freshman from Smithville, Miss. leads the team in homers with five on the season.

GRAND SLAM –
Jackson Landry hit a grand slam in the bottom of the seventh against Alcorn State, driving in four runs to get to a 12-0 score after seven innings. Landry’s hit is his third career home run and the first grand slam of the season. Landry has tallied two home runs this season, most recently on February 28 against Western Illinois.

JC BRINGS THE JUICE –
JC Dermody had a stellar start at New Orleans on February 22, collecting his second win to have a 2-0 record this season. He saw action in six innings on the mound, striking out seven and allowing just one run and no walks. Dermody arrives in Monroe after a season at Wichita State. Dermody sits at third among pitchers in the league with two wins so far this season.

The Warhawks return home to Lou St. Amant Field to host Texas State for the opening Sun Belt Conference series from Friday, Mar. 13 through Sunday, Mar. 15.
