Kayla Nicole O’Dell, a former East Texas educator, is jailed for alleged probation violations, including theft and missing obligations, court officials say.

LONGVIEW, Texas — A former East Texas educator currently on probation for having an improper relationship with a student is back in jail after she was arrested for stealing from Dillard’s.

Kayla Nicole O’Dell, 35, of Longview, was sentenced to 10 years’ deferred adjudication probation in November. She was worked at Kilgore ISD from August 2023 to January 2025 as an instructional aide, and she was arrested February 2025 and later terminated.

Arrest and judicial records show she was booked into the Gregg County Jail for a violation of her probation. The state has filed a motion to adjudicate guilt, meaning she is accused of violating the terms of her probation.

Court officials say she violated the terms by allegedly stealing an item worth $100 to $750 from Dillard’s as well as failing to complete counseling, community service and paying probation fees.

She was arrested on Feb. 19 on a property theft between $100 to $750. At the time, she bonded out the same day, jail records.

Odell is being held without bond in the jail for the alleged probation violations. A hearing to consider revoking her probation has not been set yet.
