Most areas in the greater Houston region will see isolated, light rain showers in anticipation of a cold front Saturday afternoon. Rain is expected every day from Friday to Wednesday for much of Texas, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
NWS had previously predicted a greater chance of severe weather and thunderstorms this weekend, but downgraded its concerns Friday morning.
NWS is warning about the risk of flash flooding in streets, if there should be rapid rainfall over a short period of time. Creeks and bayous could see a rapid rise in water levels, NWS said, but they are likely not going to exceed their banks.
