El Paso’s Stephanie Han will defend her World Boxing Association lightweight title vs. former world champion Holly Holm, this time in El Paso.
The May 30 fight will take place at the El Paso County Coliseum and will be nationally televised on ESPN.

Han defeated Holm, who is from Albuquerque, on Jan. 3 in San Juan, Puerto Rico, by technical decision after the fight was stopped in the seventh round after an accidental head butt caused a cut on Han’s forehead.

Han, who was in control of the fight at the time of the stoppage, won by scores of 69-65, 69-64, 68-65.
The rematch with Holm was announced as part of a rollout of MVPW, a women-focused addition to Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions. Han-Holm 2 will be MVPW-3.
After that ending Han is ready for a more conclusive ending in the rematch, but she’s most excited to be fighting in her hometown.

“To have this fight in my city of El Paso, it’s a dream come true and I’m so excited because I know Texas, New Mexico and Mexico are going come out to support this fight,” Han said at a news conference to introduce a slate of MVPW fights.

“I am so excited for this rematch. Yes, the (first) fight had controversy. (Holm) said she could have caught up at the end and I want to have this next fight, no excuses. And most importantly, I’m having this rematch in my city of El Paso.
“My city embraces me as a champion and I’m so excited to bring this fight home.”
Holm also is eager to fight Han again.
“I’m excited for the rematch,” Holm said. “I think a lot of people are (because of) how the fight kind of ended. So show up and do the best I can.”
Han is 12-0 with three knockouts, Holm is 34-3-3 with nine knockouts.
Han will make her third defense of her WBA title, which she won by defeating Hannah Terlep by first-round knockout in El Paso. Her first defense was a 10-round decision win against Paulina Angel in Florida.
