SAN ANTONIO – A Bexar County judge has sentenced Nathan Franklin to life in prison for the murder of Johnny Johnson.
Judge Catherine Stahl of the 175th District Court sentenced Franklin on March 6, 2026, according to the Office of the Bexar County Criminal District Attorney.
The district attorney’s office said the shooting happened in March 2025, while the two were in a vehicle stopped at a red light, prosecutors said.
Franklin, who was accompanied by several other passengers, pulled out a gun and shot Johnson, who was seated in the backseat, striking him in the neck.
When authorities arrived, Johnson was still alive and identified Franklin as the shooter, the district attorney’s office said. Johnson was taken to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Eyewitness testimony, Johnson’s statement before his death, and Franklin’s confession to law enforcement each confirmed Franklin was responsible for the shooting, according to the district attorney’s office.
