SAPD getting $4 million grant to fund anti-gang unit

San Antonio Police Department

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — Gangs remain a concern for law enforcement in the Alamo City, and actions are being taken to do something about it.

The San Antonio Police Department is getting a $4 million grant to keep up the funding for the specialized anti-gang team in the city. The funds will also enable the sharing of intelligence with other law enforcement agencies, like the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Department of Public Safety.

KSAT-12 reports SAPD first applied for the grant in 2017, and it has been renewed each year thereafter.

The funds will cover the anti-gang program from September 2026 through August 2027.
