Police said the victim died at a hospital after being found on a sidewalk with a gunshot wound.
HOUSTON — An investigation is underway after a woman was found lying on a sidewalk with a gunshot wound in northwest Houston early Saturday morning, police say. The woman later died at a hospital.
The Houston Police Department said they were called to the scene on West 20th Street near Lawrence Street around midnight.
Arriving officers found the victim lying on a sidewalk with an apparent gunshot wound. HPD said she was rushed to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Details surrounding the shooting are limited at this time.
Investigators said the woman had parked nearby and was walking to her friend’s home when she may have been robbed.
HPD said there were witnesses. Officials have not yet identified the victim.
