History

ARLINGTON, Texas – In its regular-season finale on Senior Day, the UT Arlington women’s basketball (10-20, 4-14 WAC) team fell to Abilene Christian (22-9, 13-5 WAC), 72-57, on Saturday afternoon inside College Park Center. The Lady Mavericks honored seniors Kali Haizlip, Laura Bello, Alexsyah Goudeau, Nya Threatt, and Jeanne Rodriguez before tip. 

Kira Reynolds led UTA with 16 points and 9 rebounds, while Mila Reynolds added 12 points, and Nya Threatt finished with 11. Jadyn Atchison chipped in 10 points and a team-high 4 assists as the Lady Mavericks placed four players in double figures.

Abilene Christian built an early edge and carried a 24-15 lead through the opening quarter before taking a 43-29 advantage into halftime. UTA matched the Wildcats in the third at 15-14, but ACU stayed in front and closed out the win behind a balanced offensive effort.

The Lady Mavericks shot 43.5 percent from the floor and went 15-21 at the free-throw line, while ACU finished at 41.4 percent overall and knocked down 8 three-pointers. The Wildcats also turned 22 UTA turnovers into 38 points, while their bench contributed 40 points in the win.

UTA found some second-half rhythm and used a 9-0 run to keep pressure on the Wildcats, but Abilene Christian answered down the stretch to maintain control. The Lady Mavericks also got solid work on the glass from Reynolds and Bello, who added 6 rebounds.

Abilene Christian was led by Erin Woodson’s 13 points, while Natalia Chavez also scored 12, and Payton Hull added 11.
