Texas Tech University System pausing all business travel to Middle East

  • March 8, 2026

LUBBOCK, Texas (TTU) – Due to the current situation in the Middle East and the current security alerts issued by the U.S. Department of State, the Texas Tech University System is temporarily pausing all business travel to Bahrain, Israel, the West Bank, and Gaza, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE, effective immediately. This pause will remain in place until formally lifted by the TTU System Office of Risk Management. TTU System administration will continue to monitor and communicate updates.

This action is intended to protect our faculty, staff, and students while allowing local authorities to address the ongoing situation without additional complications. If rescheduling upcoming business travel is not feasible, please contact the Office of Risk Management at ttusrm@ttu.edu or call 806-742-0212 to discuss a possible exception to this temporary travel pause.

We also want to emphasize that if you have travelers currently in the above list of destinations and locales — or individuals with upcoming travel to any other location who may require assistance — our office is available as a resource. While this pause addresses only business travel, we would encourage our community to consider rescheduling personal travel as well.

Thank you for your cooperation as we work to ensure the safety of all system travelers.
