A man died after being struck by a pickup truck, then trapped under it on Texas 360 in Arlington early Saturday, police said.
Arlington police officers responded to the auto-pedestrian crash about 5 a.m. on the northbound lanes of Texas 360 near E. Avenue J, police said in a news release.
When officers arrived they found a man trapped underneath a small truck, police said.
Investigators determined that the man was driving northbound on 360 in a Dodge Durango with a woman when he stopped his car along the highway, police said.
The man and the woman exited the car and began walking in a travel lane along the Highway 360 entrance ramp, police said.
While walking, the man was struck by a 2025 Ford Maverick that was traveling northbound on the frontage road and entering the on-ramp to 360, according to police.
The man died at the scene, police said.
The driver of the Ford Maverick cooperated with investigators and is not facing any criminal charges at this time, police said.
The woman who was walking with the man was not injured during the crash, police said.
The man who died will be identified by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office once next of kin have been notified.
“The Arlington Police Department reminds the public that pedestrians should take every precaution to avoid walking on highways, including shoulder areas. Vehicles traveling at highway speeds can require significant distances to slow down or come to a complete stop,” police said in the release. “Drivers who must stop along a highway should exit the roadway as soon as possible and, if safe to do so, remain inside their vehicle. If it becomes necessary to exit, individuals should do so with extreme caution and only in safe areas away from moving traffic.”
