The Sum of Us at Kettle Art Gallery

Kettle Art Gallery founder/owner and prolific Deep Ellum muralist Frank Campagna is quick to point out that women have always been part of Kettle’s exhibitions.

“Since day one, Kettle Art has maintained our commitment to feature women in at least 50% of our roster and exhibition scheduling,” Campagna said in an email to the Lakewood/East Dallas Advocate.

Continuing this legacy, the exhibit The Sum of Us is expected to showcase diversity. Two to five works from each artist in the show will be on display. This includes art from Kettle debuts Haley Justitz, Natalie Markham, Wendy Blitzer Barkett and Sara Gradual.

“Throughout the years, we’ve found that introducing fresh talent keeps Kettle Art dynamic, engaging and inspiring for our community,” reads a press release from the gallery.

The Sum of Us also features the works of veteran artists Melanie Hardy McVey, Erin Curry, Mahsa Moein, Bev Parson White, Jamie Walters and Jennifer Wallace.

The exhibit opens 4-7 p.m. Saturday, March 14 and will be available to view through Sunday, April 5 at 2650-B Main St. in Deep Ellum.

50 Women Over 50 at Art on Main

50 Women Over 50 has a specific focus — showing off older women who aren’t traditionally the subject of artwork. Shot by Kent Barker, the photography exhibit aims to use these portraits to put strength, beauty and resilience on display.

“This powerful collection brings together portraits that celebrate resilience, wisdom and unapologetic authenticity — offering a broader, more truthful vision of beauty and possibility,” reads a write-up about the exhibit on Eventbrite.

The opening reception will take place 6-9 p.m. Saturday, March 21, and the exhibit will be available to view March 18-28 at 4428 Main Street, Suite 200 in Old East Dallas.
