The No. 2 Texas Longhorns (16-0) travel to Oxford to face the Ole Miss Rebels (10-9) on Friday at the Gillom Athletics Performance Center. The Longhorns currently lead the series against the Rebels 3-0 and look to extend their SEC road undefeated streak in the matchup with 11 straight wins after entering the conference in addition to winning 56 of their last 58 road matches overall.

Last year in Austin, Texas needed five sets to beat Ole Miss, which enters Friday’s matchup with a 2-6 record in SEC play, although the Rebels are coming off a five-set win over Vanderbilt in Nashville last Sunday.

Junior outside hitter Gabi Placide has made an immediate impact aiding Ole Miss after transferring from Northern Colorado — she ranks second in the SEC in kills with 328 and in points with 375.5, earning an addition to the AVCA Player of the Year Watch List for her efforts. Senior libero Cammy Niesen broke the Ole Miss all-time digs record against Auburn earlier this month and is now at 1,702 and counting moving to the No. 6 spot into the SEC top 10 list in digs. Junior outside hitter Shayla Meyer entered the top 10 in service aces with 28 and recently recorded 4 aces while at Missouri. Meyer ranks third in the SEC in service aces per set (0.39). The Rebels are a perfect 5-0 when recording 10 or more blocks in a match this 2025 season and recently tallied 11 blocks at Vanderbilt. The Rebels look to hold the net down against the No. 2 Longhorns and derail an undefeated season.

Texas (16-0) remains one of two undefeated teams left in the country with No. 1 Nebraska (18-0) while also remaining ahead of the Huskers in RPI. The Longhorns lead the conference in assists per set (13.84) and kills per set (14.86) and the country in kills per set, and are second in the SEC with a .304 hit percentage.

True freshmen outside hitters Cari Spears and Abby Vander Wal continue to make noise for the Longhorns. Spears has locked in 196 kills with a .308 hitting percentage while Vander Wal has collected double-digit kills in three matches with a total of 156 kills and a season average of 2.74 kills per set, hitting .231 percentage thus far in the 2025 season.

Senior libero Emma Halter leads the team with 202 digs to set up junior outside hitter Torrey Stafford makes noise reaching a milestone with her 1,000th kill in the win over Arkansas as well as recording her 600th dig. Junior setter Ella Swindle leads the Longhorns with 9.28 assists per set with a total of 501 assists this season.

The Longhorns have also totaled 219 team blocks with the aid of middle blockers Ayden Ames, a sophomore who has 50 blocks, and redshirt sophomore Nya Bunton with 30 blocks; both have been averaging .96 blocks per set. The No. 2 Longhorns look to extend their undefeated season in SEC play as they travel to Mississippi.
