Gas prices jumped in Texas, footage from March 6 shows, as the war between the US and Iran raised oil supply concerns.

Footage captured by Martin Asturias shows gas priced between $3.199 per gallon for regular fuel, and $4.499 per gallon for diesel at the H-E-B gas station on University Boulevard in Georgetown.

“As thousands of families prepare to hit the road for the holiday, drivers across Texas are seeing higher prices at the pump,” Asturias told Storyful. “The timing couldn’t be worse for travelers planning road trips … Many Texans say the rising cost of fuel is already forcing them to rethink travel plans, shorten trips, or budget more carefully for the holiday week.”

According to the American Automobile Association (AAA), regular fuel averaged $2.428 per gallon a month ago, and $3.124 per gallon for diesel in the Austin-San Marcos area, while the national average price per gallon reached $3.48 on Monday, March 9.

The hike in prices occurred as the war between the US and Iran caused interruptions in oil supplies in the Middle East, The New York Times reported.

The current cost for fuel marked “a nearly 17 percent increase since the first US-Israeli attacks on Iran on February 28. Gas hasn’t been at these levels since 2024,” The New York Times said. Credit: Martin Asturias via Storyful
