AUSTIN, Texas — The City of Austin, in collaboration with the Mexic-Arte Museum, has canceled the Viva La Vida Parade scheduled for Saturday, October 25, due to concerns about anticipated severe weather and flooding.

The festival portion of the event has been postponed to next week, Saturday, November 1, and will take place at Republic Square Park.

The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch for Travis County, effective until 7 p.m. Saturday. Forecasts predict 1 to 3 inches of rain, with isolated areas potentially receiving up to 5 inches. The excessive runoff could lead to life-threatening flooding in rivers, creeks, streams, and low-lying areas, particularly in the Hill Country and southern Edwards Plateau, as well as urban areas along the I-35 corridor.

Residents are advised to avoid waterways, refrain from driving through flooded roads, and stay informed by checking local weather updates and emergency alerts.

Authorities advise having an evacuation plan and keeping emergency supplies ready.
