The Dallas Police Department announced the arrest of a suspect in connection with three drive-by shootings and an armed carjacking.

Police announced the arrest in a social media post on Tuesday. According to the post, the Gang Unit arrested 21-year-old Nehemiah Drake on Feb. 11. He was wanted in connection with three drive-by shootings and an armed carjacking that occurred in 2024.

On June 11, 2024, Gang Unit officers responded to three separate shooting incidents within an hour in the 6800 block of Nandina Drive, the 1400 block of McKenzie Street, and the 4200 block of Willow Springs Lane.

At each scene, police learned that unknown suspects had shot out of a car while driving past. “The investigation determined that nearly 300 rounds had been fired, and the Gang Unit continued to pursue all investigative leads to locate the suspect responsible for these violent offenses,” the post states.

Several weeks later, on June 23, 2024, police responded to a report of a robbery in progress in the 3300 block of Junction Street. Officers received reports that multiple suspects had stolen a car at gunpoint and later crashed. The car was recovered and inside officers found a pistol with a machine gun conversion device attached.

Police later forensically linked the gun to the three shooting incidents on June 11 and to Drake, who was ultimately charged with three counts of Deadly Conduct – Discharge Firearm, which is a third-degree felony, and prohibited weapon, a third-degree felony.

“The safe apprehension of this violent impact offender reflects the Dallas Police Department’s unwavering commitment to public safety,” said Major Andre Taylor, the commander of the department’s Tactical Investigations Division. “If you put others in danger, you will be held accountable, no matter how long it takes to find you.”
