The company’s last day of operations was Feb. 6.

The details

The company announced the temporary closure of its Plano location in February.

A sign posted on the facility’s door said that Centennial, the company that owns The Shops at Willow Bend, changed the locks Feb. 7 due to “delinquent rent,” according to previous reporting.

The Crayola Experience’s website confirms that the company ceased operations Feb. 6 and will not be reopening.

Customers with unused admission tickets, annual passes or gift cards can email [email protected] for assistance. The company will contact any parties with events scheduled, the website states.

The context

On Feb. 27, the city of Plano confirmed that the city has been in “earnest discussion” with the Dallas Stars National Hockey League team regarding a potential arena district at The Shops at Willow Bend.

Plano City Council approved a plan to redevelop The Shops at Willow Bend into a mixed-use development in 2024.

Centennial revised the redevelopment plan in February 2025 after Macy’s, one of the shopping center’s anchor tenants, announced it would be closing its Plano location. Dillard’s has also closed its Willow Bend location.

North Texas Performing Arts, which operates out of the Willow Bend Center of the Arts, was asked to vacate its space in the mall “within the year,” according to the organization’s website.
