A woman staying at an Arlington hotel was arrested early Wednesday after police said she falsely reported a shooting in an attempt to get officers to respond more quickly.
Officers were called around 5:30 a.m. to a hotel in the 700 block of Six Flags Drive after a report of a shooting, according to the Arlington Police Department. When officers arrived, they searched the hotel but found no evidence that a shooting had occurred.
Hotel staff told police they had not heard any gunshots and that everything at the hotel appeared normal.
Police said the woman who made the call later admitted she fabricated the report. She told officers there were unknown people outside her hotel room and she wanted a faster police response.
The woman, identified as 45-year-old Saybree Fillyaw, was arrested and charged with one count of false alarm or report of an emergency, police said.
