TARRANT COUNTY, Texas — Tarrant County Public Health has confirmed its first pediatric flu death of the season, according to a press release sent by the department.Â
County officials say the child had underlying medical conditions and that no additional information would be released given the sensitive nature of the case.Â
Tarrant County Health officials say flu vaccines are recommended for those six months of age and older to prevent severe illness, hospitalization, or death. Caregivers and close contacts of infants are strongly encouraged to get vaccinated to help protect them.Â
Per the release, Texas has reported six other pediatric flu deaths so far this season.Â
