Lubbock mother searches for answers after son killed in weekend motorcycle crash

  • March 12, 2026

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) -A Lubbock family is mourning the loss of a 33-year-old man killed Friday in a motorcycle crash near 42nd St. and Memphis Ave.

Timothy Bond left home to run errands and never returned. His mother, Melissa Bond, says riding was one of her son’s greatest passions — and the two had a system whenever she heard about a crash.

“Check in baby, bike down. Check in baby, bike down, check in baby and over and over again. I called over and over again and he never made me worry so when I started worrying, I knew,” Melissa said.

Timothy had been riding motorcycles for 12 years without incident. Melissa describes him as a deliberate and safety-conscious rider who took precautions others might overlook.

“He revved his bike at intersections so people could hear him and he’ll drive very careful. He just constantly watching his surroundings because that bike meant everything to him,” Melissa said.

When officers arrived at her door, Melissa had one thing on her mind.

“My first question to the officer was he alone and he said no ma’am there was someone with him. Did he suffer? No ma’am it was instant and I asked was there anyway to save him? No ma’am,” Melissa said.

Melissa says the crash was recorded on a Ring camera near the scene. She has not watched the footage but has heard the audio.

Lubbock police say the crash remains under investigation. Melissa believes another vehicle was involved, though that has not been confirmed by law enforcement.

Despite her grief, she says forgiveness is already on her mind.

“I want to know the other person side of what happened. I want to be able to tell them I forgive them,” Melissa said.
