1. CEO of Alamo Trust out after Lt. Gov. Patrick asked for her resignation
On Friday, it was announced that the president of the Alamo Trust, which manages the historic site, was “no longer” at the organization, after Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick on Thursday called for her resignation.
2. WalletHub once again ranks Austin top college town in U.S.
According to a new ranking from WalletHub, Austin is the best college town in the country. Meant as a tool to help high school seniors narrow down their choices for where to go to school, the list is a follow-up to the website’s previous rankings for the best colleges and universities in the country, where the University of Texas at Austin appeared at No. 58.
3. Texas farmers brace for Mexico to not meet water treaty obligations
Every five years, Mexico is required to pay the U.S. 1.75 million acre-feet of water, and the current cycle ends on Oct. 25. According to the most recent data from the International Boundary and Water Commission, Mexico has sent a little over 812,000 acre-feet.
Texas Farm Bureau State Director Brian Jones, who is a farmer in Hidalgo County, issued a statement ahead of the deadline saying Mexico’s failure to meet the treaty’s obligations is “infuriating.”
