One year after a historic run to the Elite Eight, No. 14 TCU women’s basketball is looking to make some noise yet again in 2026.

Superstar guard Olivia Miles, who transferred from Notre Dame, is a big reason why. Miles led the Horned Frogs this season with 19.6 points and 6.9 assists per game while hauling in 7.3 rebounds per game during her first season in Fort Worth.

Here are five things to know about Miles as the Horned Frogs get ready for the NCAA Tournament:

1. The basics

Position: Point guard

2. Could’ve gone to the W

Miles’ decision to transfer to TCU after last season came as a surprise to many. After a very successful tenure at Notre Dame, Miles was eligible to go to the WNBA draft and was projected to go as high as No. 2 overall in the draft after now-Wings star Paige Bueckers.

“I think it was a mixture of me listening to my body and what I needed and also just another year to develop, you know be in a system where it’ll favor me and I’ll have great teammates and a great coach around me,” Miles told The Associated Press about her decision to stay in school. “I’ll have a lot of fun so I’m just very excited for that.”

That decision has paid off for Miles on the court. She’s led the Horned Frogs all season and won Big 12 Player and Newcomer of the Year honors.

3. Triple-double machine

Miles is the definition of a stat sheet stuffer with career averages of 15.5 points, 6.4 assists, 6.2 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game.

She tallied five triple-doubles this season for the Horned Frogs, including in three consecutive games against UTEP, Jacksonville and Arkansas-Pine Bluff in December. The game against Arkansas-Pine Bluff also saw Miles, together with teammate Marta Suarez, become part of the second pair of Division I teammates to have triple-doubles in the same game.

Her 11 career triple-doubles are third-most in women’s NCAA basketball history behind Sabrina Ionescu (26) and Caitlin Clark (17). She also became the first freshman, man or woman, to tally a triple-double in the NCAA Tournament with 12 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists in a first-round game against UMass in 2022.

4. Accolades galore

Miles has put together a highly-decorated college career since she arrived on the scene in 2021.

In addition to her Big 12 Player and Newcomer of the Year awards, Miles has earned two second team AP All-American selections, three first team All-ACC selections and a first team All-Big 12 honor.

She could keep adding to that list if she receives an expected All-American selection this spring.

5. Development from deep

Miles has a complete game, but her ability from beyond the 3-point line was a question mark early in her college career. Not anymore.

Miles showed that in a huge 40-point night against rival Baylor in February when she poured in 10 3-pointers.

She shot well under 30% from deep her first three seasons at Notre Dame, but blossomed in 2024-25 when she returned from missing an entire season due to injury. She averaged 40.6% her final season with the Fighting Irish and is shooting 35.2% this year with TCU.
